An insurance company has hired a private firefighting crew to stand by at the top of the Promontory Ranch Club to protect the high-end homes. KPCW's Leslie Thatcher has more.

A joint meeting between all the government officials and planning staffs from Park City, Heber City, Summit and Wasatch Counties was held earlier this week and was the first in what will likely be many over the coming months. KPCW's Leslie Thatcher has more.

A resident in the area ravaged by the Rockport 5 fire was arrested Wednesday for running through the evacuation barricade set up by Summit County Sheriff deputies.

Due to the fire near Wanship, portions of Promontory Ranch, Rockport Estates and Bridge Hollow have been evacuated and closed.

A press release from the Summit County Sheriff’s Office says that 74-year-old Robert Wiener was arrested after his second attempt to run the barricade.

Wiener first violated the closure Tuesday  night, and he was warned he would be arrested if he tried it again.

The Rockport Fire forced hundreds of people out of their homes Tuesday afternoon as it ravaged through the dry brush. As KPCW's Leslie Thatcher reports, several structures and vehicles were lost, but no injuries have been reported.

With a year and a half left in his last term as Summit County Sheriff, Dave Edmunds is hoping that in his final budget cycle he can get some funding and staff restored to his department. Rick Brough has more.

The proposed Indian Hollow Development near Kamas has received an approval from Summit County Manager Bob Jasper, after discussion and debate over the past 15 years.

However, the approval for the 65-lot project did come with several conditions due to concerns from the public. Rick Brough has more.

The Summit County Council is scheduled to hold a hearing next week, Wednesday, August 14th, on two proposed tax increases.
